Welcome to My Corner of the Web – Let’s Talk Skin!

Hey there, and welcome! I’m seriously so excited that you’re here.

I’m Alexandria—Registered Nurse, dermatology nerd, skincare lover, and now, officially stepping into the world of freelance nurse writing. This blog is a dream come true and the start of something I’ve been slowly building toward for years without even realizing it.

Let Me Introduce Myself

I’ve worked as a nurse in dermatology for 5+ years now. My journey into nursing began with a heart for helping people, but I had no idea dermatology would become such a huge part of my life—or that it would lead me here, writing this blog.

Before nursing, I always had a deep love for skincare and makeup. I was that teen who spent hours watching beauty tutorials, reading product reviews, and sketching out dream jobs in the beauty world. I imagined myself working in skincare, maybe as an esthetician, a beauty editor, or someone behind the scenes developing products. Makeup was more than a hobby—it was a creative outlet and a confidence booster. Pair that with my lifelong love of writing, and you could say this blog was written in the stars.

But like many of us do, I followed the more “traditional” path. I became a nurse, worked my way through school, and gained experience in different healthcare settings. When I landed in dermatology, something just clicked. I found myself completely immersed in learning about skin health, chronic skin conditions, procedures, treatments, and how our skin connects to our overall well-being.

A New Passion Sparks a New Path

As I dove deeper into the world of dermatology nursing, I noticed something: there’s a serious need for accessible, trustworthy information out there. So many of my patients would come in overwhelmed and confused by what they’d seen online. Misinformation is everywhere, and skincare can feel like a maze. I wanted to change that. I wanted to give people guidance they could trust—written in a way that made sense.

While researching remote nursing jobs, I stumbled across an article about “nurse writers.” My curiosity was instantly piqued. Wait… you mean I could combine my love of writing and my clinical experience? The lightbulb went off.

That article sent me down a rabbit hole of nurse blogging, health writing, and content creation. Suddenly, all the pieces made sense. My passions for skincare, dermatology, health education, and writing weren’t just separate interests—they could come together in something meaningful. And just like that, the idea for this blog was born.

What You’ll Find Here

This blog is all about making skin health approachable, understandable, and actually useful. I want this to be a space where you can learn, get inspired, and feel empowered to take better care of your skin.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Chronic skin condition support – Real tips and info for managing conditions like acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, and more.
  • Routine breakdowns – How to build a skincare routine that actually makes sense for your skin.
  • Skincare product reviews – Honest, no-fluff breakdowns of what’s worth your time and what’s not.
  • Skin cancer prevention and awareness – A topic I’m passionate about and one I’ll be writing about often.
  • Educational content – Think skincare myths debunked, ingredient deep-dives, and evidence-based tips in everyday language.
  • A touch of beauty + self-care – Because skincare is part of a bigger wellness journey, and feeling good matters.

I’m writing for the everyday person—not just skincare professionals or beauty junkies (though you’re welcome too!). Whether you’re just starting to care about your skin or you’ve got a shelf full of serums, I want you to feel like you’re learning from a trusted friend who also happens to be a nurse.

Why This Blog Matters to Me

This isn’t just a writing project. It’s a reflection of my journey—of embracing both science and creativity, professionalism and personality. For so long, I thought I had to choose between my clinical side and my creative side. But now, I realize they make me stronger together.

Being a nurse has taught me empathy, patience, and the value of education. Loving beauty and skincare taught me the joy of self-expression and the importance of confidence. Writing? That’s how I connect it all.

I truly believe skincare is about more than what we put on our faces. It’s about how we care for ourselves as a whole—how we see ourselves, how we show up in the world, and how we handle what life throws at us. And if I can play even a small role in helping you feel more confident, informed, and in control of your skin journey, then this blog will have done its job.

What’s Next?

This is just the beginning! I’ll be posting regularly with skincare insights, personal stories, helpful resources, and all the nerdy skin facts you didn’t know you needed. If there’s a topic you’re curious about, let me know—I want this to be a community, not just a one-way conversation.

So whether you’re here for advice, curiosity, or just good vibes, thank you for stopping by. I’m honored to share this space with you, and I can’t wait to grow, learn, and write together.

Until next time—
Stay glowing,
Alexandria | RN, BSN
